Post It

A Grateful Heart

April 27, 2020

It's pretty tough to get out of bed during isolation. I realized that I need to do something to start my day off positively. I started writing post-it notes on my mirror of what and who I am grateful for.

I challenge you to do the same. Use a journal, a notebook, a sticky note...etc to start each day with a grateful heart. It will help you to start off counting your blessings instead of listing your complaints.

Podcasts, Podcasts, and More Podcasts

April 7, 2020

A great way to get your eyes off of a screen and to get your mind thinking is listening to podcasts. I like to listen to them in the car or when I'm *attempting* to clean my room. Here are some to check out based on your age and interests:

For Elementary:

- "Little Stories for Tiny People"

- "But Why: A Podcast for Curious Kids"

- "Brains On!"

- "Short & Curly"

For Middle School:

- "The Radio Adventures of Eleanor Amplified"

- "Flyest Fables"

- "Stuff You Missed in History Class"

- "Listenwise"

- "Youth Radio"

I would love to hear from you about which ones you like and if you've found other something else worth mentioning.

10 things to do when youre bored.jpg

Bored? Here is what you can do!

March 31, 2020

I don't know about you but being isolated inside is making me spend a lot of time on Netflix. I love a good movie or binging a show but here are some more ideas and things to do for you:

  1. Read a book that you have picked out. Not one for work or school. But a book that you are completely interested in.

  2. Bake something sweet or cook something savory. Don't know how to? Learn with an adult in your home for some good food and bonding time.

  3. Meditate. There are so many videos on YouTube that are free and available.

  4. Color, draw, or paint. You don't have to be perfect or good to be an artist. Create something unqiue and voila - art work!

  5. Write letters to the elderly in nursing homes in your community.

  6. Listen to music and dance like no one is watching.

  7. Watch a ted talk or download games to keep your brain learning.

  8. Start to journal. It's pretty simple - grab a paper, pencil or pen, and start writing about whatever is on your mind.

  9. Clean. Learn how to do the laundry, make your bed, reorganize your room, declutter your space, and so many more things.

  10. Create a bucket list. Places that you want to see, goals that you want to achieve, or things you want to get.

Time Management

March 28, 2020

You are being forced to stay at home during this time so might as well use it to grow positively. Time management is one of many reasons people either stress out or stay calm.

Some ideas and tips for managing time:

  • Pace yourself

  • Make checklists and prioritize tasks

  • Move on or take a break when you're stuck on something

  • Estimate how long you need to complete the task and set a timer

  • Set up your own space and get ready to work hard!
